Enhanced self-phase modulation in silicon nitride waveguides integrated with 2D graphene oxide films

We experimentally demonstrate enhanced self-phase modulation (SPM) in silicon nitride (Si3N4) waveguides integrated with 2D graphene oxide (GO) films. GO films are onto Si3N4 using a solution-based, transfer-free coating method that enables precise control of the film thickness. Detailed SPM measurements carried out both picosecond and femtosecond optical pulses. Owing to high Kerr nonlinearity GO, hybrid show significantly improved spectral broadening compared uncoated waveguide, achieving factor up ~3.4 for device 2 layers GO. By fitting experimental results theory, we obtain an improvement waveguide nonlinear parameter by 18.4 coefficient (n2) is about 5 orders magnitude higher than Si3N4. Finally, provide theoretical analysis influence length, position, its saturable absorption on performance. These verify effectiveness on-chip integrating enhance performance devices.
